I was speaking to a friend about 4 months ago when she was about to bring her newborn in for his 1st set of vaccinations, and I mentioned to her to not forge to give him his acetaminophen 1 hour before his appointment and she was thankful because she had not been aware. Here is a list that I compiled of things that I think would be useful for 1st time moms:

1. As mentioned above, administer acetaminophen 1 hour before your child's 1st set of immunizations to avoid a potential fever. (Tylenol Coupon)

2. Always put a diaper one size larger than he/she usually wears at night to prevent middle of the night soakers (this usually is helpful from 3 months on).

3. Breast fed only babies need vitamin "D" from birth until your doctor says to stop as breast milk does not contain this essential vitamin.

4. Always clip a baby's finger nails when they are asleep. This will prevent you from snipping their skin if they move suddenly (no need to cut toenails as they tear away themselves.

5. See that 1st tooth? Use a washcloth to clean it, then get baby/finger brush.

6. Make your own baby food.

7. Hold your baby as much as you can, he or she won't want to be held as much as they grow.

8. A yeast infection is just a bad diaper rash and can be treated with a 1% cortisone cream and Canesten mixture (50/50). Confer with your Dr. to get diagnosis.

9. Babies do not like to be over-dressed, and would prefer not to be too warm.

10. Babies can get the flu shot at 6 months and up.
