In Search for the Cheapest Comfort

In August our central air died; you know, during the hottest week of the summer! Our furnace is also aging rapidly and is as old as our home (probably older-IF that is possible). We wanted to make the best of our money and make sure that we got both before Ontario stops offering the tax credit on home renos which we are entitled to. We also we be getting the efficient energy rebates from the government. In total this entitles us to about $3000 in savings- WOW! We spent the last few days of summer heat searching for the best deals on central air and furnaces. We got 3 quotes; one from Sears Home Central; one from a smaller independent

business- Kool Tech; and one from another independent business called Holmes. All had pretty competitive pricing, but nothing beats the 10 year warranty on parts and services like Sears; they also have the best payment plan with 0% interest for 3 years. So- we paid $8100 and will be getting roughly $3000 back, so we paid about $5000 on both furnace and air units. Can't beat that! We also bought during double points at Sears which equals a $405 gift card. So, if you have an aging furnace or air conditioning unit, you may want to plan ahead and look into it now to get in on all of the rebates. Good luck!
