I received an email from a lady offering the following information. What a great incentive for young minds and wonderful resource for parents and teachers:
I am contacting you on behalf of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). This February, the CSA is once again launching their annual Financial Fitness Challenge (www.financialfitnesschallenge.ca) which is an educational program designed to urge young Canadians to improve their financial literacy while vying for a chance to win one of 13 scholarship prizes worth $750.
I thought this educational program for teens would be of interest to you and your readers because it is designed to teach students the fundamentals of saving money through various interactive activities including warm-up activities, tips and of course there is The Challenge itself where students have an opportunity to win one of 13 scholarship prizes.
On the Financial Fitness Challenge Website you can also find the teacher & parent resource centre which will provide you with helpful resource guides, classroom presentations and student worksheets to help children better understand money, budgeting, saving and investing.
If you think these resources and this program might be of interest to your online readers then, I have provided a snapshot of a few fun and useful resources and activities that you might want to share.
1. Feel free to incorporate this Financial Fitness Challenge badge within your blog, or offer it to your readers to remind them of the program.
In order to incorporate the Financial Fitness Challenge badge – simply cut and paste the attached text file code within your blog.
2. Ask readers to encourage their children (ages 15-21) to take The Challenge for a chance to win one of 13 scholarship prizes across Canada.
3. Not ready for The Challenge quite yet, then have fun with some of the warm-up activities and tips, or feel free to join our new Financial Fitness Challenge Facebook page where students can interact with other challengers and friends.
If you have any questions about the program, or any of the resources listed above, I would be happy to answer them. Furthermore, we would love to get your feedback about the Website and resources and how we may work towards improving the site for next year’s challenge.
