Well, I have made up my mind to stay home with my little dudes. I have been going back and forth for 6 months, but have finally decided that spending time with them is most important for them and for me right now. We are financially not ready to give up my income all together, so I have decided to start a home daycare. I am now caring for 2 small boys my sons' ages-1 year and 4 years. They are really good little boys and make great friends for my sons. This is how I started my little home daycare:
1- I REALLY thought about whether this was what I wanted before I listed myself available to care for others.
2- I listed Offering Childcare and Offering Babysitting adds on Kijiji.
3- Within a day people were contacting me via Email/ I responded to ALL of the emails and selected the ones that I wanted to meet with.
4- Downloaded some daycare/family contracts and decided on a rate for care
5- I met with families and we interviewed each other; asking and answering questions.
6-GET INSURANCE (through your home insurance)
7- We did a trial day to ensure everything would run smoothly
8- I am keeping ALL of my receipts for tax purposes (including grocery receipts, gas receipts, utility bills, ty receipts, arts'n'crafts receipts from the dollar store, etc.) and giving receipts to the families for tax purposes

Thanks so much. We’re praying about what we should do about daycare and starting my own has entered my mind a few times. Appreciate these great resources!
It’s hard leaving your little ones with someone you barely know- I did it with my first and it broke my heart. He was in daycare for 4 months and then I asked my mother in-law if she could come stay with him in our home until I went on maternity leave with our second…I do not wan to do it again! Good luck, Missy!
